about

When we recorded the piano track for this, it was so long I accidentally skipped a verse, and instead of going back we just decided to keep it as is (that’s a recurring theme of our early days). Pretty sure this was another weird, sad song about loneliness (somewhat inspired by real life) with strange imagery. Like the milkman shows up, but the person who answers the door just wants to talk and hang out? I was really proud of the chorus, how the melody changes and then both versions are sung on top of each other at the end, that rules. And the verse’s chord progression is cool too, lots of wandering between major and minor: G-Em-C-C#dim, Bm, Bb, Dm, D. –Adam

lyrics

I swear I’ll have the money soon
Come back tomorrow anytime after noon
This is great, I’ll start the quiche
We’ll have some fun, put on this leash
I’m not wearing any pants oh dear
Why would mamma think I’m queer?
Oh…
Milkman is this a dream?
I’ll buy a gallon of your cream
If you tell me it’s not a dream
Isn’t this the best time you’ve ever had?
It reminds me of the time I found my dad
In the sandbox without his shoes
Drinking a beer and singing the blues
Oh…
Now I notice
Life’s just a tease
The man who walks alone
Walks with ease
