Rabbit skipping, jumping into the sun Cope with phasing in the river run Pool is green, lagoon electric blue All the forests that I once knew Charging chemicals, extraction white Feel the heat flow in the icy night Trees are stomping and the air is thick Man is hiking with supportive stick Life inside a man named Klaus I'm going down to the Pilaf Haus Passing ketchup down the leeward isle Feel the ocean wrap in wayward style Laps like dogs in Wonderland so cruel Heed the tidings of the tide of yule Holding out for the election man You know I try to do the worst I can Pearls in harvest like a nest of bird All I want to know is what you heard Life inside a man named Klaus I'm heading down to the Pilaf Haus

Birds and people, no one’s mean in a dream Rocketman, saves the day, we’re ok Superman past his prime, who needs crime Wears his pack, can’t be seen, he’s so clean Flying through the air, no one knows where Someday you’ll see, there’s no one like me. The smile returns but nobody learns That I’m all you’ll ever be. Clouds and pigeons in my face, sharing space No need for planes, it’s a little cold, so I’m told Life is so simple, why you gotta ruin everything? For once, I am king. Supermodels in love with me, don’t you see? Flawless takeoff, yet again, will it end? Check it baby! You better believe it!

Kenjocketty 03:07
Well I was keeping track of time and I was feeling like a lime As I was musing by the fire Lightning struck the telephone wire Lake side tell me why Why don't you go to sleep? Running all night long Bob always played that song The food weren't so good Cups, and brooms of wood and I said Lake side tell me why Why don't you go to sleep? I've been waiting for you but you don't seem to appear We were living like we should You know we've got it good Staying up so long with omelettes at the fire Lake side tell me why Why don't you go to sleep?

Dottie I 03:50
Remember the times? All the things we shared? Just you and me, the perfect pair But now that’s all gone, you’re movin’ out I’m left alone, to sit here and pout I know there’s a guy behind all your lies. A man who needs to plant his seeds in you... Dottie don’t go, give me a clue Tell me his name, I love you too! Soon you will see, I’ll have my revenge Take all your things, just leave Gamehendge At first I wasn’t sure, maybe it was all in my head Then I found his bowtie; mine have never come in red. Dottie…

Mr. Milkman 04:44
I swear I’ll have the money soon Come back tomorrow anytime after noon This is great, I’ll start the quiche We’ll have some fun, put on this leash I’m not wearing any pants oh dear Why would mamma think I’m queer? Oh… Milkman is this a dream? I’ll buy a gallon of your cream If you tell me it’s not a dream Isn’t this the best time you’ve ever had? It reminds me of the time I found my dad In the sandbox without his shoes Drinking a beer and singing the blues Oh… Now I notice Life’s just a tease The man who walks alone Walks with ease

Sleeping in a Soviet base Launching like Sputnik into space Rocking like a hurricane Spewing forth detritus on my way Lights go down Eyes roll round Shape the maroon My spectacles in tune--alright! Wondering by Caldera Lake The cowboys tied to a stake I'll set forth your precedent Give back the feelings that you've sent Lights go down Eyes roll round It's no longer you but a wigwam in the dew I love you too
7.
It was life in the forest Don't tell me Remember the first time Come down to the front line Babies crying psalm The life back home is real So special Trudging through the salt marsh I was only a boy It wasn't a crime Feel your life slipping by As the days goes dry When you think you cry Step off the train track It's no use to you now Tin soldiers in pursuit I'm on my way Stepping through the fields of years You remind me Call me to tell me You have forgot me The mind is funny sometimes

Sandalabra 03:15
Truckers say he has no face No footprints for us to trace He owns a shop but cannot spare A single dime for bus fare His arms are long his nose is wide He's not photogenic trust me I’ve tried Sandalabra, runnin free Is he you? Could it be me. There he goes, burn his house down. Turn his smile into a frown. Burn him at the stake! I’ve eaten some kids, does that mean that I’m a killer? I have a soul, I like movies with Ben Stiller. What I’m trying to say is maybe I’m not so bad after all. Or maybe I’m Paul?

Axlotl 10:04
I am your forsaker Your words are paper thin You split the sun I part the clouds The heavens sing when I'm alone Your lips are sin Mine are pure You make me think I'll endure Combat the spirit within Anoint the pilgrim's skin Surge forward Knock the door down When it snows I'm all yours Surge forward, Axlotl When I'm prone You're alone Don't complicate it more I'm only out to score tonight Out to score tonight I don't know how Someone found out We've got to get out Grab all your clothes Fill up the holds We've got to leave Don't complicate it more We've got to get out that door tonight We've gotta get out! The valley glistens in the moonlight The lake is looming in the night We'll take our time, watch the lights fade Leave our burden in the shade Come with me There were places in the desert I used to like to be Places where I felt like I was free By the big butte mountain where the sand creatures walk I used to go up and watch the sunset from the plateau Then one night, long after he had dropped below the mountains The sun god arose and peeked up from the top of big butte mountain It was like day again Eyes blinded, heart swollen And then the sun god spoke to me And he said "Kill your master!" I said "why should I believe you? Maybe you're just a dream" And he said "Dream this!" And I looked up at the spirit star And as I watched I rose into the air, feeling the flight of my ancestors as I ascended further into the expanse Everything was exploding in colossal shapes and textures The sky moved me I looked down and then looked up "Thank you, Sun God!" I said and then I knew, I knew everything EVERYTHING!!!!!! Please mister, can I have some food? You know I'll starve to death quite soon You wouldn't let that happen, would you? Please mister, can I have some food? "He's working his way through the country..." "He shan't return; he's been taken away" "It's a happy time for us in Raeghull; we spit upon his open grave" "We spit upon his open grave" "We spit upon his open grave" "He's not a monster, but a baby by design" "He'll sleep eternally below our nation's soil" "But he will rise once again!" "He'll take control of our kin! Don't let him fool you, no!" "You know he's still on the prowl" Surge forward, knock the door down Let their blood feed the earth! Surge forward, Axlotl Taking back what should be yours Don't complicate it more He's only on the throne tonight Yeah, he's back on the throne tonight He's on the throne tonight On the throne tonight

I'll tickle thy feet If thou picklest my meat Throw a rind outside on electric street See the birds of sea on the wing in threes They chatter aimlessly in the chatter tree What is behind your leaves? An icy majesty Cornucopia of ancient thought The birds, they speak to me Cut my hands on electric weir Scorn derisively with a face of steel You'll be gone tomorrow, a fleeting glimpse Scatters shivers 'round me every time I think Dawn eclipsed the room And shadows down the hall Give me time to heal the wound My army's standing tall Watch out now, there is no end Let the curtain fall, let the iron bend So spaced out in your room at night "What is wrong?" and "What is right?"

Mama hold me til I fall asleep Mama hold me like you used to Hold me til slumber takes my hand

about

Toward the end of Year 2002 CE, two young men came together with the idea to record an album. Ross Howard had been noodling with a Tascam cassette 4-track recorder for the past year or so, and he recognized in his bandmate (both in school and in their own existing band) Adam Cohen-Leadholm a certain knack for interesting melody and musical novelty in his writing. Though they already were part of a rock band with their dear friend Charles Hickox, they didn't write most of the songs, and felt a need to capture the weird songs in their heads in an experimental, experiential way. In January 2003 the two 17 year-olds started on the project that would bring them together for 20 more years and counting. That project is "Sonic Irony". Though it is extremely rough around the edges, Sonic Irony shows the wealth of promise in the young, budding songwriters, and traces the geneses of the styles Adam and Ross would work with in later years. Now seeing its first digital release (and first since the original CD-Rs in 2003), Sonic Irony is a document of the continuation of lo-fi indie rock home recording into the 21st century, its youthful creativity and spontaneity a testament to the exploration of the times.
