about

I still don't know what a Soviet Blackout is supposed to be, but it sounded cool and psychedelic so yeah, why not? Like a more refined version of "Rice Pilaf Haus", this one is heavy on random imagery and throws in some diminished chords again for good measure. Good jaunt, cool intro/breakdown with some pronounced 11th chords, cheesy at times with a hint of heart but pretty surreal lyrics, singing like a whale finding land again. At the beginning you can hear Adam singing what I had just sang at the end of the previous vocal take ("fucked that shit up but I'm still going!"), and me shushing him ("Adam!")--Ross

lyrics

Sleeping in a Soviet base
Launching like Sputnik into space
Rocking like a hurricane
Spewing forth detritus on my way

Lights go down
Eyes roll round
Shape the maroon
My spectacles in tune--alright!

Wondering by Caldera Lake
The cowboys tied to a stake
I'll set forth your precedent
Give back the feelings that you've sent

Lights go down
Eyes roll round
It's no longer you
but a wigwam in the dew
I love you too
